Questions to ask yourself:
Developmental screenings are important especially for those from birth to age five! As an early educator I observe and monitor children daily to see how they are growing, learning, moving, and behaving. Developmental screening looks closely at this progress. Your child may be at risk for cognitive, motor, communication, language, social and/or emotional delays. These delays may interfere with expected growth, learning and development but there are opportunities for positive supports. You will receive a milestone checklist within your child's first 90 days as well as ideas and goals as your child progresses.
Benefits of early identification and intervention:
When children’s learning problems are recognized early, behavior problems, and school failure can be prevented or reduced. Because early intervention is a family centered approach, the parents of children with disabilities also benefit, as they learn ways to support their child’s development at home. Children with disabilities will have greater chances of developing to their full potential.
Your child may be referred to a local business, school district, health care provider, specialist, or resources listed on the DCYF website such as:

- Does your child require more stimulation and nurturance than the typical child?
